The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) recognizes the challenge of maintaining a healthy work/life balance. We offer a range of programs designed to help employees manage that balance. We welcome you to review the OCC’s flexible work arrangements, time off options, monetary subsidies and benefits, and programs to help employees find services such as childcare, elder care, and much more.
Alternative Work Schedules*
With supervisory approval, employees may fulfill their 80-hour biweekly work requirement in eight, nine or ten days, vary their daily arrival and departure times, and earn credit hours. The OCC also offers part-time work and job-sharing opportunities.
With supervisory approval, eligible employees may arrange to work from home when their work can be performed away from the office or bank setting.
Time Off Options
The OCC offers generous leave programs including annual and sick leave, leave donation programs, leave without pay, and short- and long-term disability insurance. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays each year.
OCC Health Care, Dependent Care, and Parking Flexible Spending Accounts*
Employees may contribute a portion of their salaries on a pretax basis to OCC’s Flexible Spending Account program to pay for eligible health care, dependent care, and work-related parking expenses.
Employee Assistance and Work/Life*
The Employee Assistance Program provides free confidential and professional counseling and research and referrals for services such as daycare providers, elder care, and legal and financial advisors.
Sittercity and Years Ahead*
Through Bright Horizons in partnership with Sittercity Services, the OCC offers Sittercity and Years Ahead*. Sittercity provides employees with access to school support, neighborhood babysitters and nannies, companion care, special needs care, housekeeping and pet sitters. Years Ahead helps employees choose the right care solution for their older loved ones. Membership is paid by the OCC; employees are responsible for screening, hiring, and paying providers.
OCC Life Cycle Account*
The Life Cycle Account (LCA) Program provides employees with an additional allowance to help balance their work/life needs. It consists of two components – the LCA Flex Credit and the LCA Cash Payment. The LCA Flex Credit can be a deposit into an employee’s OCC Health Care or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account, or issued as a taxable cash deposit. The LCA Cash Payment is an automatic deposit into the employee’s bank account, less applicable taxes.
Public Transportation Incentive Program
Program participants may receive a nontaxable transit subsidy each month, up to a legislated amount, to defray the cost of using public transportation for commuting to and from work.
Employees relocating for the benefit of the OCC may receive benefits and assistance that include real estate closing costs, shipment of household goods, transportation to their new residence and many other services.
