Leave & Holidays
Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) employees have a wide variety of leave benefits available to them to help balance their work and family obligations.
Annual and Sick Leave
Employees earn four, six, or eight hours of annual leave each pay period depending on their years of combined federal and creditable military service. They earn four hours of sick leave each pay period. Accruals for annual and sick leave are prorated for part-time employees.
Paid Parental Leave
Paid Parental Leave (PPL) is a benefit for new OCC parents who have worked for the federal government for at least 12 months prior to the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child (they must have also worked a minimum of 1,250 hours during those 12 months and must sign a service agreement and provide supporting documentation). Eligible employees are entitled to up to 12 workweeks of paid leave for the birth, adoption or foster placement of a child in order to care for or bond with their new child (entitlement is pro-rated for part-time employees). Employees have up to 12 months from the date of birth, adoption or foster placement of a child to use PPL.
Leave Transfer and Leave Bank Programs*
These programs offer support to employees who have serious personal or family medical situations and have exhausted their available paid leave. Under the Leave Transfer Program, employees may receive donated leave from other OCC or federal employees. The Leave Bank Program provides OCC member employees access to a pool of donated leave.
Employees receive 10 paid holidays each year.
