High School Scholars Internship Program (HSSIP)

Overview

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) established the High School Scholars Internship Program (HSSIP) in 2019. This program is a six-week paid summer internship for students entering their senior year of high school and recent high school graduates. The program provides students at public and charter schools with an opportunity to work in small training teams, develop public speaking and communication skills, discover career opportunities within the federal government, and to learn about the banking industry, banking regulation, the OCC's mission, and the important work the agency does to ensure the safety and soundness of the federal banking system and the fair treatment of its customers.

The OCC partners with the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES) under the Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program and Prince George’s County Summer Youth Employment Program to facilitate the hiring of HSSIP participants.
