Diversity

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) values a diverse workforce and supports programs to help attract, develop, and retain the best talent that represents a cross-sector of the national populations. The agency is committed to ensuring equal employment opportunity to all job applicants and bases all employment and promotion decisions on merit, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, protected genetic information, sexual orientation, parental status, or other non-merit factors.

Employee Network Groups (ENG)

The OCC sponsors network groups that encourage awareness of the diverse backgrounds of our staff. The groups provide networking, mentoring, and cross-cultural experiences to agency employees. Network groups include:

  • Coalition of African-American Regulatory Employees (CARE)
CARE promotes education and career development of African-American employees. CARE provides career support to its members and encourages positive contributions to the workplace.
  • Differently Abled Workforce Network (DAWN)
DAWN is dedicated to fostering a workplace that values and respects individuals with different abilities. DAWN serves as a source of support and information for OCC employees and their family members with disabilities.
  • Generational Crossroads
Generational Crossroads leverages the knowledge and experience of the OCC’s multi-generational workforce to improve agency performance and culture.
  • Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Advancement (HOLA)
HOLA supports the advancement and career development of its members by raising awareness of issues relevant to Hispanic employees and celebrating Hispanic culture and the contributions of Hispanic employees to the agency.
  • Native American Tribes & Indigenous Voices (NATIVe)
NATIVe's goals are to foster the recruitment, development, and retention of Indigenous Peoples and Native Americans as employees and to promote OCC employee awareness, understanding, and interest in Native American and Indigenous Peoples' cultures and financial issues.
  • Network of Asian Pacific Americans (NAPA)
NAPA supports the recruitment, development, and retention of Asian Pacific Americans and promotes awareness and understanding of the Asian Pacific American culture and heritage.
  • PRIDE
PRIDE promotes recognition and respect for diversity to create a workplace environment that values all employees, regardless of sexual orientation.
  • The Women's Network (TWN)
TWN fosters a work environment that attracts and retains women in the OCC.
  • Veterans Employee Network (VEN)
The Veterans Employee Network (VEN) is an employee network group, founded in 2017, that focuses on recruiting, onboarding, leveraging and supporting OCC military veterans and reservists. Additionally, VEN supports OCC employees who have family members who are veterans or currently serve as active duty or reservist military, and employees who support military service members.

The network groups sponsor events and activities throughout the year, including annual observations of months dedicated to celebrating the contributions and heritage of the diverse groups.

People with Disabilities & Schedule A

The OCC provides a work environment where employees with disabilities have an equal opportunity to contribute and succeed. Absent undue hardship, the OCC provides reasonable accommodation for qualified individuals with disabilities.

If you have an intellectual disability, a severe physical disability, or a psychiatric disability, you can apply for an OCC job using Schedule A. Schedule A is a hiring authority for people with disabilities. Schedule A streamlines the hiring process for people with disabilities and, in some instances, hiring officials may select solely from a list of qualified Schedule A applicants. To be selected you will need to show that you meet the qualifications of the job (with or without reasonable accommodation).

Veterans and Military Spouses

The OCC provides career opportunities to veterans as well as reserve military members. We value the leadership, reliability, and skills veterans bring to the agency. The ability to adapt to a dynamic environment, and the experience gained while on military duty translates well to a variety of operational and non-operational career opportunities at the OCC.
