National Diversity Internship Program (NDIP)
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) National Diversity Internship Program (NDIP) is a key part of the OCC’s efforts to diversify its talent pipeline with the goal of advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workforce. OCC NDIP provides practical professional experience, development, and career-readiness internships to diverse, currently enrolled, full-time undergraduate and graduate students from accredited institutions, such as, but not limited to Minority Serving Institutions (i.e., Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, Asian American Pacific Islanders, and Tribal Colleges and Universities).
Program Overview
The NDIP provides professional career experience through substantive work assignments and projects that will enhance participants’ marketability for future jobs. The NDIP also strives to expose interns to the many career opportunities available at the OCC.
The OCC NDIP is a paid ten-week summer internship. The program begins early June through mid-August. Selected interns are required to complete 40 hours per week at OCC headquarters or a regional office assisting with a variety of projects assigned by a selected manager. Interns are generally matched with a business unit based on their skills, knowledge, experience, and interests. The NDIP program provides students with an opportunity to contribute to one of our organizational units:

- Chief Counsel's Office
- Large Bank Supervision
- Midsize and Community Bank Supervision
- Supervision Risk & Analysis
- Office of Management
- Office of Minority Women and Inclusion
- Office of Enterprise Governance and the Ombudsman
- Office of Public Affairs
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for an internship through the NDIP program, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Able to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the length of the program
- Be enrolled in a degree seeking program (BA/BS, Master’s, JD, etc.) from an accredited minority serving post-secondary institution seeking a major or minor listed below, but not limited to:
- Accounting
- Business/ Business Management
- Computer Science/Cyber Security
- Data Science/Economics
- Finance
- Information Technology/Systems
- Law
- Mathematics

NDIP Frequently Asked Questions
The OCC uses the services of contracted organizations to recruit students from diverse backgrounds. These organizations include, but are not limited to, Minority Serving Institutions, e.g., Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, Asian American Colleges, Pacific Islander Serving Institutions, and Tribal Colleges and Universities.
Although the goal of the internship program is to recruit students from diverse backgrounds, the internship program is open to all students who meet the criteria of the program. Contracted organizations accept applications from all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, or participation as a minority-serving institution.
Yes, NDIP interns receive a stipend from the selecting organization. Stipend amounts vary and are based on the vendor.
NDIP Interns are not OCC employees. Interns are employees of the contracted organization that recruited them. As a result, NDIP Interns are considered contract employees for the duration of their internship.
